In PokeSurvivor you start each run with a single partner, an empty move bar and a pixel arena that fills with wild Pokémon from every direction, which matters because every reward you pick in the next few minutes decides whether that partner grows strong enough to keep up with the swarm.

Picking a Starter and Sticking With It

The selection screen lines up the first partners from every region along with Pikachu, so most people simply grab the one they remember from childhood. Whichever you choose, it evolves as the run goes on, and by the late waves it barely resembles the small creature that stepped into the arena.

Coins earned between runs go into upgrades, and here is the catch that trips up newcomers: those upgrades are tied to one specific Pokémon. Spending a little on five different partners leaves you with five weak options instead of one reliable carry.

The smarter habit is choosing a favorite and pouring resources into it until it clearly stops scaling. Only then does it make sense to start building a second partner from scratch.

Level-Up Choices in PokeSurvivor

Every time you level up, three rewards appear and you pick one with the 1, 2 or 3 key. If none of them fit the build you are going for, pressing R rerolls the offer, which is often better than accepting a move that clutters your bar.

Bond moves are the detail most players overlook. Certain moves can be paired so they fire together while taking up only one slot, freeing room for another attack. Planning a Bond pair early gives a run far more firepower by the time the arena gets crowded.

Items work differently: you can carry only one at a time. Grabbing a new item means losing the old one immediately, so it pays to think for a second before walking over anything shiny.

Keyboard and Touch Controls

Keyboard. WASD moves your partner, keys 1 to 4 choose moves, Q and E scroll through them, 5 to 8 activate spheres and Esc opens the pause menu.

Phone. Touch controls switch on by themselves once the phone is held sideways; you drag to move and tap on moves or spheres to use them.

Screen size. Small displays get crowded fast, so spotting gaps in the horde takes more practice on a phone than on a monitor.

Surviving the Swarm by Kiting

Wild Pokémon close in from all sides, and standing still is the quickest way to get surrounded. Experienced players move in wide circles around the arena, pulling enemies into a long trailing line and attacking as they retreat. The community calls this kiting, and it is the core skill of the game.

Early waves are forgiving enough to learn the pattern. Later, the arena fills up so quickly that a single wrong turn into a corner can end a promising run, which is why route planning matters as much as raw damage.

Players who enjoy bullet-heaven titles adapt fastest, since the rhythm of moving, collecting and dodging carries over almost directly.

Kecleon Shop, Gacha and Playing With Friends

Outside of runs, the Kecleon Shop sells Mints, Capsules and TMs. They land in your Backpack and are applied from a Pokémon’s card in the collection screen, giving you another way to strengthen your main partner.

The gacha is where most of the roster comes from. It covers nine regions, with pulls available in sets of 10 or 100, and shiny hunters treat it as the main goal once they understand the survival loop.

The Friends menu lets up to four trainers share a room. In group sessions the pause menu does not freeze the action for everyone, so decide your next reward before the level-up screen appears and agree on who watches which side of the arena. The single-item limit is the most common complaint; some call it harsh, others say it keeps builds focused.

Does PokeSurvivor work on a phone?

Yes. Hold the phone in landscape and touch controls turn on automatically. You drag to move and tap moves or spheres to activate them.

How do you unlock more Pokémon?

Mostly through gacha pulls across nine regions, which can also drop shinies. After that, coins in the Upgrades menu and items from the Kecleon Shop make your chosen partner stronger.

How do group runs work?

Open the Friends menu, invite up to three other trainers into a room and start together. Keep in mind that pausing does not stop the run for the whole group.

PokeSurvivor rewards commitment: back one partner with coins, plan a Bond pair before the waves thicken, keep kiting around the arena and use the Kecleon Shop between runs. Do that, and your name starts climbing the ranking for survival time and damage dealt to Arceus.
